prepare to waste some time

If you need another place to loiter online, go here. It's not exactly archival or a primary document, but it's got value. You'll probably look up the name of everyone you know!

Magnolia was excited to see that her name was more popular at the turn of the 20th century. I didn't know that when I named her though. The Mates of State named their baby Magnolia and that name seemed to suit a Blythe with purply pink hair.

I can't deal with the meme. :( My last two love interests are now in long-term relationships with girls named "Kelly". Yes! Even my own first name makes me sad to think about. Like Nick Hornby said in "High Fidelity", "he realizes that girl's names have a special power" (paraphrased)

I've been playing around with Gapminder, and my new personal favorite, Wikisky. Awesome!

Whoops, I meant I can't deal with the name thing. I really should be in bed.

fun! And a great way to help pick out a name if you wanted to name your baby something not popular in this century :)

Wow, my name went from #18 in the 1970s to #281 in 2005. I guess I'm totally out of style. Cool site!

Carla, your blogs are so interesting! Glad to meet you. And you know it about olives and coffee. UCH! UGH! YUCK!

You should check out the Wikipedia entry on "Supertasters" - you might see yourself there...

i'm off to check out the site you left the link to.

This post was amusing. Vincent was popular during the 60s and the 20s (the hot spots of North American social unrest!).

More important, why doesn't Magnolia post for herself, though? She has two hands. :)

Up with olives!

I wonder why? My Dad's name is Vincent and he was born in the 40s. Was the 60s spike inspired by Vincent Price? ha ha.

Magnolia is a terrible speller so she leaves the typing to me.
